Why this exists

ChurchOS was built in Cape Town for anyone standing at the door of a church wondering if they may come in.

The answer is yes.

Many people want to explore faith but hold back because they do not know the words, the customs, or the beliefs inside. Nobody should stay outside for lack of a guide. This site is that guide, written for a complete beginner, with every church word explained the first time it appears.

Free forever

ChurchOS costs nothing and it always will. There are no ads, no subscriptions, and nothing for sale. It exists out of love, because the door of a church should feel open, and learning about faith should never have a price on it.

How the content is grounded

Every denomination’s beliefs on this site come from that denomination’s own official sources, and every belief is attributed to the church that holds it. A denomination is a family of churches that share the same beliefs and the same way of worship, and each family speaks for itself here.

That means we write “Catholics believe” and point to official Catholic teaching, and when the Methodist pages arrive we will write “Methodists believe” and point to official Methodist teaching. We never blend different churches into one generic Christianity, and we never present one church’s teaching as what all Christians believe.

We stick to mainstream, well established teaching. No speculation, no opinions, and no church commenting on another.

Corrections are welcome

If anything on this site is wrong, incomplete, or unfair, please write to mapindabrendon@gmail.com and it will be fixed.

If we describe your church’s beliefs, we want your church to agree that we described them fairly. That is the standard every page here is held to.
